Leftover Custard? Try this Super Easy Frozen Custard Recipe.
This a crazy EASY solution to leftover custard. This past weekend I tried my hand at making my favorite kind of doughnut : custard doughnuts. The closest thing you can get at Dunkin‘ is a Bavarian cream doughnut. Here’s the link for the custard filling: https://www.tastemade.co.uk/videos/easy-homemade-custard-doughnuts
Anyway, this recipe left me with surplus of custard. Not a bad problem to have! So I looked up suggestions on what to do with it. The most popular suggestion was to make a trifle, which is delicious. However, I wanted something quick and easy that I could make with what I had at home. Then I remembered seeing one of those Popsicle molds that I used to use as a child way back in my cabinet and had my aha! moment—FROZEN CUSTARD.
I had some blueberries in the fridge, so I threw a couple of those in and oh my goodness— they were oh so good and oh so rich!
Ingredients
- Custard filling
- Blueberries or your choice of fruit
- Popsicle mold
- Popsicle sticks
Directions
- Drop 3 to 4 blueberries into mold.
- Fill molds with custard filling.
- Cover with aluminum foil.
- Pierce Popsicle stick through foil so that there is one in each mold.
- Freeze. (I froze mine for about 5 hours, but I’m sure you could do less.)
Now enjoy this picture of blueberries looking like a smiley face 🙂
