Siesta Keys & the Orlando Eye
A couple of years ago I took a much needed girls trip to Siesta Keys, Florida. The best part of the trip was the company ! I don’t get to see these girls as much as I’d like to.
We booked a villa, which was AMAZING (I miss it more than the beach!) and included a heated pool. Depending on how you like to vacation, a villa is a good choice if you prefer to cook for yourself instead of going out to eat. Also, it makes you feel like you live there! Who wouldn’t want to live with a beach just 3 minutes away?
So let’s talk about the beach. Supposedly it’s the number one beach in America. As nice as it is, I think that may be self-proclaimed 😉 The beach is free, clean and lovely. It was my first time going to a beach in Florida and I have to admit even though it was pretty I was underwhelmed. I was expecting blue water like you see in vacation ads. However, it is nicer than any New York beach I’ve been too. (If you’ve read my other posts, Santa Monica beach is still my favorite!) This beach had a more quiet and laid back vibe but did offer an outdoor bar and concession stand if you’re looking to spice it up!
Siesta Keys is a cute little beach town filled with a strip of tiki restaurants and souvenir shops. If you’re looking for wild nights out this isn’t the place for you. It’s more geared towards families and people who want to relax and enjoy the beach. Like any touristy place the food is severely overpriced ($20 for nachos?! I better have super powers after eating those!)
Update: Since this trip MTV has come out with a reality show called “Siesta Key” where it actually is portrayed as having a party atmosphere. Maybe we missed it? Shucks.
As we said good-bye to Siesta Keys, we headed to Orlando and I got to check something of my bucket list: the Orlando Eye! I’m normally afraid of heights but in this Ferris wheel your seats are encased. You can literally walk around! Check it out above in the feature photo.
