Easy Message in the Bottle Wedding Guestbook
I’ve been to many weddings in the past 7 years and what seems to get the most neglected is the guestbook. For my wedding, I decided that I did not want a typical guestbook. From Pinterest to Etsy, there are numerous fun alternatives. The most common theme is some kind of picture that you can later hang in your house. I think that’s a really sweet and sentimental idea, however, I knew I probably wouldn’t hang it up and it would collect dust in the attic haha. That’s just me! At this point in my planning I had been putting effort into a lot of other DIY projects for my wedding. I wanted something simple yet unique. Through all my searches I came across a message in the bottle idea. Many of them have a nautical theme (such as netting), however, my wedding wasn’t nautical themed. So, I decided to just tie a ribbon around the bottle and add in a few framed fun phrased directions and call it a day. It came out really nice and our guest book was not ignored! Below are the steps to this easy message in bottle wedding guestbook.
To make it extra interesting we didn’t open any of the notes until our first year anniversary.
Materials
- A glass bottle (I found mine at Home Goods)
- Ribbon
- Fun pens
- Paper needed for the messages
- Twine to tie the paper after it is rolled up

Assemble as seen below.
